Curly Girl's Essentials

Hello loves,

us curly girls sometimes have struggles finding what we really need for our hair. We buy all these things thinking it what we need for our hair to grow, and that is exactly how we become product junkies. Here are my some curly girl essentials.

Satin Pillow Case // All my life I have used a stain bonnet or satin pillow case. I was basically raised on it. The satin material is so much better for hair. It doesn't take away the moisture in your hair and it keeps your hair soft and keeps the style in place. Every sleepover I've been to, you would catch me in my bonnet right before bed.

Cleansing Products // In order for you hair to grow, you need to make sure your scalp is clean. Also, we get so much product build up and dirt from every day things we do.

Water // aka a curly girls best friend.Water is so important to keep our body healthy, it helps my skin and I generally I fell more refreshed after I have a bottle. Kinky, curly, coily hair is the easiest to break when dry that is why it is crucial to keep your hair moisturized at all times. It's free and I promise your hair will love it.

PATIENCE // I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to be patient. We all have our goal hair length but if you continue to do length checks every week it will make you feel low that your hair isn't growing as fast as you want it to. Don't focus so much on it, enjoy the stage your hair is at now and embrace it.

Detangler // It's so important for the dead hair to be combed out. Our hair is very difficult as well when it's not detangled, and there are many ways to detangle your hair. Either doing it before you shower by using an oil by easily going through each section or doing it with conditioner in the shower. I prefer the shower, it's easier for me and it's quicker. I have to make sure my hair is completely drenched with water in the shower then I apply the conditioner staring from end to roots. Always detangle starting from the roots as you will protect your hair and prevent breakage.

TLC // I think this speaks for itself, your hair responds to what is given to it. If you care for it and look after it, it will be happy which will make you feel good. I used to hate spending money on products so I'd buy cheap stuff which my hair did not like then I'd get frustrated at it so I had to invest in products which my hair will like despite having to spend an extra £10 but it's worth it. Your hair is yours, there are so many unique things about it so embrace it. The way you look at your hair will make a difference to your perspective of it.

LOC Method // The LOC method broken down:
L | Liquid - water or an leave in conditioner
O | Oil - any oil like coconut or grapeseed
C | Cream  - any thick or light cream like Shea Moisture Curl Cream or Cantu Leave-In Conditioning Cream

The LOC Method consists of hydrating the hair with water which is your liquid, sealing in the moisture with oil and then applying a cream product to close the hair cuticle which prevents moisture loss. This works great for most women with natural hair.

Hair Tie // Before bed I put my hair into four sections going upward, like the pineapple method, to keep my curls for the next day. This is the best method I have triedfor myself. Also hair ties can be used for great protective ponytails.

Bobby Pins // For people who want to experiment with hair styles bobby pins allow you to do just that.Bobby pins are life savers!
